Since I was a small child, I always had a connection with animals. I was not one of those people who grew up on a farm or had a family dog. I always enjoyed the company of other people’s pets because my parents were not pet people but understood and saw that I had a connection.
When I was 10 years old I finally got my first cat, which was rescued as a kitten from under a trailer at Walt Disney World. She had a long, happy life. At 21, I got my first dog from a rescue; unfortunately, his life was cut short when I went out of town. He escaped from my parent’s fenced-in yard and was hit by a car.
I decided that I needed to have a pet in my life and found my current dog, Yogi, at the shelter. He was two-years-old, laid back and friendly. Sounds perfect right? I quickly learned he had severe separation anxiety and was reactive towards other dogs. He is now nine-years-old and although it’s been a long hard road, we have worked hard to overcome his struggles.
I wanted to make sure that what happened to my first dog doesn’t happen to someone else and I also wanted to help pets, like my own, who might have some special needs. This desire was the driving force behind the creation of my company Walk In The Park Pet Sitting, LLC!
After creating Walk In The Park Pet Sitting, LLC, I became a certified professional pet sitter with training in Pet CPR/First Aid. I am bonded and insured, and most recently became the only pet sitter in the Triangle area to be ‘Fear Free Certified’. My goal is to make sure fur parents have the highest peace of mind when hiring us.
